India Post launches e-post service

COIMBATORE,
MARCH 25.
The India Post has launched the e-post service to bring the benefits of Internet to people living in rural areas.
A release from the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Coimbatore, said the service would comprise printed or handwritten messages being handed over at the post office counters wherein it would be scanned and transmitted as e-mail through the Internet.
The messages would be printed at the destination centres, enveloped and delivered at the postal address given by the sender. The e-post centre for Coimbatore is located at the Head Post Office. The rate for the e-post service is Rs. 10 per A4 size sheet per addressee.
If the sender has access to Internet at home, this facility will be available at portal: Indiapost nic-in by using prepaid cards, which would be available at the Head Post office in the denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000. This service can transmit a single message to as many as 99 addressees at one instance. For further information, customers can approach the Coimbatore HPO.
